Attitudinal Survey
19th February 2008
In June 2007, SLIG commissioned a research study into community attitudes to the SLIG Peace-building Plan. A quantitative survey was conducted in both Lenadoon and Suffolk, the results of which were to provide a baseline from which SLIG progress could be measured.
The aim of the SLIG's Peace-building Plan was to identify potential opportunities for promoting shared services, facilities and public spaces. The attitudinal survey would also provide a sound monitoring and evaluation framework for SLIG's work.
The results of the survey were encouraging in that the majority of residents from both areas, held positive views on working towards a shared future.Surprisingly the survey also reflected that youth was a group that had the most pessimistic outlook, a fact that has already informed much of SLIG's work to date.
Nevertheless, the encouraging attitudes reflected in the survey have given added impetus to and validation of the SLIG Peace-building Plan and its work in the future. The full survey results and analysis can be downloaded below.
