SLYC Needs You!

2nd March 2010

Suffolk Lenadoon Youth Council (SLYC)

SLYC is a group of 14-18 year olds from Suffolk and Lenadoon who are interested in speaking up for young people in the area and the issues that affect them. SLYC wants to create a safe and friendly environment for young people in the area and improve and create services for young people, free from sectarianism and discrimination.

Young people currently in the youth council have been working together for the past year taking part in various personal and social development programmes including residential and overnight stays, social outings, availing of various training opportunities and developing friendships across the interface.

Members of SLYC are currently involved in a range of projects including participating in workshops in W5 on the Impact of Youth’ and working with The Terry Enright Foundation to develop a research project which will soon be delivered to a number of interface areas.

SYLC are also working with various other groups and organisations to identify issues that affect young people and develop them into a series of videos as well as written and photographic presentations which will be shown to an audience of politicians, stakeholders and academics at a major community relations conference.

SLYC will soon be recruiting new members. So if you are aged 14-18 are currently living within Suffolk or Lenadoon and are interested in issues affecting young people please feel free to contact Suffolk Lenadoon Interface group.
