Summer for Everyone

The Suffolk and Lenadoon Interface Group (SLIG) has organised a diverse range of cultural and other events for the local community as part of a wide-ranging summer programme.
Upcoming events include:
- Cross-community Bingo Friday 27 August 7pm – 10.30pm, Horn Drive Community Centre - Suffolk Community Centre (entrance, finger buffet and transport), only £10;
- A Cultural Conference: Discussing Identity - Cultural Diversity - Saturday 4 September 10am – 5pm, Clifton House. This event will provide participants with the opportunity to explore – and share - cultural identity. Meals and transport will be provided – free admission;
- A Suffolk “Talks Back” event modelledon the popular West Belfast Festival event takes place on Friday 24 September, 7pm at the SLIG Premises with politicians and others answering resident’s questions.
A cross-community golfing competition teed off on 16 August. Colin Glen Forest Heritage Trails took place in this area of outstanding natural beauty on 2 and 4 August. A political tour of Lenadoon also took place on 4 August. A tour of Miltown Cemetery took place on Saturday 21 August.
Political tours of West Belfast were successfully piloted on15 May with a Republican Tour of West Belfast. A similar Loyalist Tour of loyalist areas is in the pipeline.
