The Suffolk Lenadoon Interface Group (SLIG) was delighted to come away with the Community prize at the prestigious Aisling Awards.

The Aisling Award won by the Suffolk Lenadoon Interface Group (SLIG)The event, one of the biggest in the Belfast calendar, took place in the Europa Hotel on 25 November.

SLIG Intercultural Worker, Joe Hamill accompanied by colleagues accepted the Park Centre Award for Outstanding Community Endeavour on behalf of SLIG.

In his speech Joe underlined that we were in a very difficult category to win, given the outstanding achievements of our opposition. It is therefore a testimony to the incredible work of SLIG that we were not only nominated, but overall winner, he pointed out.

Joe expressed thanks to everyone connected with the win. In particular he paid recognition to the Suffolk and Lenadoon Community fora for their commitment and determination to ensuring that their dream of a Stewartstown Road Regeneration Project would become a reality. “Without their vision and determination, SLIG may never have been born,” Joe said.
